FOUNDATIONAL PRINCIPLES
A. The Holy Scriptures
We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be verbally, and plenary inspired of God. The scriptures are inerrant, infallible, and God breathed, and therefore are the final authority for faith and life. The sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments are the complete and divine revelation of God to man. The King James Version of the Bible shall be the official translation used by the church. (II Timothy 3:16, II Peter 1:20).
B. The Godhead
We Believe in one Triune God, externally existing in three persons- God the Father, God the son, and God the holy spirit, each co-equal in being, power, and glory, and are co-identical in nature, having the same attributes and perfection. (Genesis 1:26, Matthew 3:16-17, Matthew 28:19, Mark 1:9-11, Like 3:21-22, John10:30, John 15:26, John 16:12-15, Galatians 4:4, I John 5:7-8).
C. The Person and Work of Christ
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the external Son of God, became man, without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful men. (Isaiah 7:14, Isaiah 9:6, Luke 1:26-35, John 1:1-2, II Corinthians 5:19-21, Galatians 4:4-5, Philippians 2:5-8).
D. The Person and Word of the Holy Spirit
- 1. We believe that the Holy Spirit is a person who convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgement. That he is the supernatural agent in regeneration, baptizing all believers into the Body of Christ, indwelling and sealing them unto the day of redemption. (John 16:7-11, Romans 8:9, I Corinthians 12:13, Ephesians 1:13-14, Ephesians 4:30).
- We believe that the Holy spirit is the divine teacher who assists believers to understand and appropriate the scriptures and that it is the privilege and duty of all the saved to be filled with the spirit. (Ephesians 1:17-18, Ephesians 5:18, I John 2:20, 27).
- We believe that God is sovereign in the bestowal of spiritual gifts to every believer. God uniquely uses evangelists, pastors, and teachers to equip believers in the assembly in order that they can do the work of the ministry as lead by the Holy Spirit. (Romans 12:4-8, I Corinthians 12:4-11, Ephesians 4:11-12).
-
We believe that the sign gifts of the Holy Spirit, such as such as speaking in tongues and the gift of healing were temporary. We believe that speaking in tongues was never the common or necessary sign of baptism or filling of the holy ghost, and that ultimate deliverance of the body from sickness or death awaits the consummation of our salvation in the resurrection, though God frequently chooses to answer the prayer of believers for physical healing. (I Corinthians 13:8, I Corinthians 14:22, James 5:14-15)
E. Salvation
We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose literal precious blood was shed on calvary for the forgiveness of our sins and for our redemption. (John 1:12, Ephesians 1:7, Ephesians 2: 8-10, I Peter 1:18-19).
F. The Second Advent of Christ
We believe in the “blessed hope”, the personal, imminent return of Christ, who will rapture his Church prior to the seven-year tribulation period. At the end of the Tribulation, Christ will personally and visibly return to the earth with his saints to establish his earthly Millennial Kingdom, which was promised to the Nation of Israel. (Psalm 89:3-4, Daniel 2:31-45, Zechariah 14:4-11, I Thessalonians 1:10, I Thessalonians 4:13-18, Titus 2:13, Revelation 3:10, Revelation 19:11-16, Revelation 20:1-6).
G. Sacrifice
We believe all men were born with an inherited sin nature received from our common ancestor, Adam. We believe that because of his nature, man is a sinner by choice, and he is totally incapable of his own power. We believe the only hope of deliverance for man is a total change of mind concerning his sinful condition and inability to change it and a turning to Jesus Christ as the only Savior. We believe that only thru the substitutionary sacrifice of Christ on the cross can a man be eternally delivered from his sin. We believe that all those who reject Jesus Christ as their savior are already condemned and will spend eternity in the lake of fire. (Genesis 5:5, Acts 4:19; Acts 16:31, Romans 3:10-23, Romans 5:6-12, Romans 6:23, Romans 10:9-10, Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 3:5-6, Revelation 20:11-14)
